Two age old crafts from the deep South of India, distinct in its own ways and the talk of the towns that gave birth to them –
Athangudi and Channapatna.
Nestled in the borough of Chettinad is the little village, Athangudi, known for its tiles. The 160 year old craft that amalgamated with the east-west influence in this town has floored the Chettinad bungalows and lay there elegant, turning it into a tinsel town.
Channapatna, a subtle town that’s an hour away from Bengaluru is known for its 200 year old toy-craft of lac-turnery. The wood used in this craft is extremely safe and known for its medicinal properties. The lacquer colours used are natural dyes and non-toxic.
The Art Brew puts together these two crafts with Athangudi tile designs donning the calendar leaf and the Channapatna crafted stands holding them.
